Open an Account

You only need these things to open an Individual TreasuryDirect account:

1. A Taxpayer Identification Number

   (Social Security Number for an individual)

   

2. A United States Address of Record
3. A Checking or Savings Account

   You'll need to know your account and routing numbers.

4. An E-mail Address

   (e.g., YourName@abc.com)

5. A Web Browser That Supports 128-Bit Encryption

Choose Individual as the type of account you would like to open.
